Terminology

Still

A single frame saved as a PNG, or a composition that is only one frame long.

Still has two meanings, and both are about one frame.

The still command renders one frame to a PNG. It is the fastest way to look at your work. Without -o the file is out/stills/<comp>-f<frame>.png.

npx kinetograph still src/index.tsx 15

The <Still> component declares a composition that has exactly one frame. It takes the same props as <Composition>, without durationInFrames. Its fps defaults to 30. A HyperFrames page has no equivalent.

Next to still, strip makes a sheet of evenly spaced frames and onion blends a range of frames to show a motion path.
