Terminology
Resolution
The size a video is drawn at, and how --scale changes it.
A composition sets its own size in pixels. The width and height must be even numbers.
<Composition id="Main" component={Title} durationInFrames={60} fps={30} width={1920} height={1080} />Common sizes:
| Use | Size |
|---|---|
| 1080p, landscape | 1920 × 1080 |
| 4K | 3840 × 2160 |
| Vertical (Reels, Shorts, TikTok) | 1080 × 1920 |
| Square | 1080 × 1080 |
render --scale <n> draws the same composition bigger or smaller, from above 0 up to 8. --scale 2 turns a 1080p composition into 4K. Each frame is drawn at the new size, not enlarged afterwards, so text and edges stay sharp. A 4K render takes about four times as long as 1080p. --draft is --scale 0.5, for a quick look.
npx kinetograph render src/index.tsx --scale 2Coming from Remotion: the same width, height and --scale.
Coming from HyperFrames: the same data-width and data-height.
