Hexed
Roll a look onto a picture or clip from a number, lock the parts you like and reroll the rest.
Hexed picks a look for a picture or clip. A look is eleven slots, each holding one named effect: crop, shake, fps, time, mirror, isolate, grade, screen, optics, damage and grunge. Roll a number and every slot fills. The same number always gives the same look, so a render comes out the same every time.
Use it
Wrap any picture or clip in <Hexed>.
import { Image, Video, staticFile } from '@kinetographdev/core';
import { Hexed } from '@kinetographdev/hexed';
<Hexed seed={42}><Video src={staticFile('video/clip.mp4')} /></Hexed>
// hold a slot, switch one off
<Hexed seed={42} lock={{ grade: 'sepia-print' }} off={['mirror']}>
<Image src={staticFile('images/photo.jpg')} />
</Hexed>
// a saved look, at 70% strength
<Hexed preset="moss-impact" amount={0.7} adjust={{ contrast: 20 }}>
<Image src={staticFile('images/photo.jpg')} />
</Hexed>Main exports
| Export | What it does |
|---|---|
<Hexed> | Wraps children and rolls a look onto them. It fills the composition unless you give a width and height. |
<Grunge> | Lays a texture, procedural or a scan, over the finished picture. |
roll, rollGenome | Roll a genome from a seed. Locked slots keep what the lock says. |
describe | A one-line name for a genome. |
genesOf | Every gene id a slot can roll, "none" first. |
Props of <Hexed>:
| Prop | What it does |
|---|---|
seed | The roll. Ignored when genome is given. |
lock | Slots to hold while the seed changes. |
genome | A saved look. It wins over seed and lock. |
preset | A saved look by name. It wins over seed and lock. |
off | Slots switched off. |
amount, amounts | Strength, 0 to 1, over the whole look or per slot. |
adjust | Global controls over the whole look. |
The full list of exports and props, and every gene by slot, is on the Hexed page.
In Studio and with an agent
Studio gets a Hexed panel: a card for each slot with its effect, a strength slider, a lock and a shuffle button. Shuffle rerolls everything except the locked slots, and a menu holds your presets.
The plugin ships MCP tools. An agent can roll a look (hexed_roll), list what each slot accepts (hexed_genes) and read your presets (hexed_presets). It then writes the look it settles on into your code or saves it as a preset.
Limits
- A look found in Studio lasts only if it is saved as a preset or written into the code.
